Skierniewice has five times been ranked first in the “League of Łódź voivoidship cities”. The town's success in this achievement was attained through its commitment to increased public investment, maintaining the lowest unemployment rate in the region and, at the same time, keeping administrative costs to a minimum.

Due to these factors, Skierniewice is a great place for investment and this is reflected by the presence of many well-known multinational companies such as: Veriplast, Veka, Pilkington, ZIPO and Ponetex and others. In 2009 in the town was created  subarea of the Special Economic Zone of Łódź.
